How it works
Cooling System
The science behind Aqua-Sol is based on the principle of thermodynamics, which states that heat flows from a hotter object to a colder one. Solar panels absorb sunlight and convert it into electricity, but they also generate heat as a by-product. This heat reduces the efficiency of the solar panels, as they produce less electricity when they are hot. Aqua-Sol solves this problem by using water to cool down the solar panels and transfer the excess heat away from them. The water flows through pipes that are attached to the back of the solar panels
The Team
The early days of Aqua-Sol
We are a team of five high school students who participated in the TYE Academy, a program that teaches entrepreneurial skills and helps us design, test, and build successful business ideas. The TYE Academy was conceptualized and executed by TiE Boston in 2005, and has since been offered at twenty-five TiE chapters around the world. Our names are Karthik Pisupati, Samarth Bedre, Jacob Slavsky, Anoop Rampure and Soham Kulkarni. We developed a technique that uses a water distribution system to enhance solar panel efficiency and extend the lifespan of solar panels. We won the 1st Runner-Up Award and the Best Business Plan Award at the TYE Global Pitch Competition in 2023, where we competed with 21 teams from different TiE chapters. We also received support and mentorship from a network of industry leaders from top companies.
